Karen LeMonnier River Oil Painting

Impressions in Oils

"I began my journey as an artist painting on location. Landscape class introduced me to working outdoors instead of the studio. Florida's morning light inspires me to capture the nuances of our treasured springs and rivers."

About Karen

My style and enthusiasm comes from the Impressionist Artists. To me, impressionism means taking inspiration directly from nature, trusting my senses rather than what I think I know.  My goal is to approach each painting with a fresh, open awareness to the scene which allows me to learn from each painting.

My joy comes from painting on location. I value the ability to put down my first impression quickly. In my paintings, you will find so much going on all at once, vivid colors, reflections of light and lots of brush strokes. Nature is my endless inspiration.

I am a member of The Lanza Gallery in High Springs, FL and The Artisans Guild Gallery in Gainesville, FL.  I am a member of The Gainesville Fine Arts Association and I work to support and strengthen the local and regional art community.

Hopefully my work will evoke memories of places you've seen along the way. My husband Larry and I live in historic High Springs.
